When trying to find the right replacement remote, knowing the Brand & Model of system that's installed on your vehicle is generally needed, but if you don't know this information and you have an existing remote to your system, all you have to do is make sure that the "FCC ID" Number on the back of your existing remotes case matches the new replacement remotes FCC ID number and the amount of buttons on each remote matches. That's it! It will work. All remotes come with DIY programming instructions.
If you don't know the brand name or model of system that's installed on your vehicle and don't have an existing remote to the system, you'll have to take your vehicle into your local car alarm & remote starter shop to have an experienced technician identify the system for you. Or you may be able to locate the systems control module yourself, commonly found mounted under the drivers side dash somewhere. On most vehicles, this requires removing the dash panel cover that's right below the steering wheel in front of your knees when your sitting in the drivers seat. Most systems have a brand logo and model number on the systems main control module.
